Collection: Icones Filicum
These prints are from Icones Filicum (1829–1831) by Sir William Jackson Hooker (6 July 1785 – 12 August 1865). Hooker served as the first director of Kew Gardens from 1841. He was an influential English botanist and botanical illustrator and held the position of Regius Professor of Botany at Glasgow University. Over his career spanning 50 years, Hooker authored more than 20 significant botanical works, including "British Jungermanniae" (1816), "Musci Exotici" (1818–1820), "Icones Filicum" (1829–1831), "Genera Filicum" (1838), and "Species Filicum" (1846–1864). The original colour prints have been desaturated.
