Collection: Hannah Borger Overbeck
Hannah Borger was one of the Overbeck Sisters, a group of four women potters in the Arts and Crafts Movement in Indiana. She studied photography with her sister, Ida, before attending Indiana State Normal School, graduating in 1894. After teaching for a year, ill health forced her to return home.
A skilled sketch artist and watercolor painter, Hannah contributed designs to Keramic Studio from 1904 to 1916. At the Overbeck pottery studio, she and her sister Mary Frances were responsible for the decorative designs, often inspired by nature. Hannah also created hand-formed pottery. Despite chronic neuritis in her later years, she continued designing until her death on August 28, 1931.
